New! Journalism Library hours expand in Spring

Effective Tuesday, 1/17/06, the new hours for the Journalism Library will be:
Monday - Thursday, 1-8 pm
Friday, 1-6 pm
Saturday, 10 am-6 pm
Sunday 2-8 pm

Help Gotham Gazette help you!

Those who have used the Gotham Gazette as a resource for neighborhood reporting may be interested to know that they have a fundraiser going on. While those who donate $250 or more will receive a gift in recognition, isn’t the Gotham Gazette site just a gift in itself? See if you can’t manage a donation of any amount… after all, $10 gets you coffee at Starbucks for a couple of days, but Starbucks doesn’t have the latest NYC campaigns and elections info, or Community Gazettes, or great coverage of immigrants in New York.

Columbia libraries’ hours during transit strike

WHO Handbook for Journalists: bird flu coverage

The World Health Organization has posted a guide (in PDF format) on covering the flu pandemic. This 24-page handbook provides basic background info on influenza, information on flu research and public health issues, and a section on the role of science journalists in coverage of the pandemic.

What’s new on the library shelves?

If you’d like to keep track of the latest acquisitions at Columbia Libraries, try CLIO’s Recent Acquisitions database. It will pull up a list of recently received titles at all of the libraries, or just the one that interests you. And you can sort the list by call number (topic), author, or title.
